I captured this shot after observing the ducks on the pond, and patiently waiting for the right moment. Using my 150-600mm lens allowed me to get incredibly close while keeping a respectful distance from the birds, ensuring I didn’t disturb their natural behavior. As I watched them closely, I noticed a consistent pattern - after grooming themselves, the ducks would stretch and flap their wings, shaking off water in an elegant and almost rhythmic display. I timed this photo perfectly during one of these moments, as the duck lifted its wings with droplets of water scattering around. The vibrant green head and striking blue feathers on the wings stood out beautifully against the softer tones of the water and background, adding both color and motion to the frame. It was all about anticipating this natural behaviour, and being ready to capture the dynamic movement in a still moment.
